Hybrid vehicle

Most hybrid cars currently marketed to consumers have both conventional gasoline and electric motors, with the ability to power the vehicle by either one independently or in tandem.

These vehicles are appropriately termed gas- electric hybrids. The technology used depends on the goals set for the vehicle, whether they be fuel efficiency, power, driving range, or reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

A gasoline-electric hybrid car has one or two auxiliary electric motors that supplement the main gasoline engine. Compared to conventional automobiles, the gasoline engine in a gas-electric hybrid is smaller, less powerful, and more efficient. Although the gasoline engine alone would be sufficient to power the vehicle under most circumstances, during maneuvers requiring unusually high power the electric motor is used as well. Many of the technologies found in hybrid vehicles would benefit vehicles of any type, including conventional gasoline automobiles.

Hybrid Car , The nature of hybrid cars, or hybrid electric vehicles, HEV has two energy sources for its engines, namely electric and combustion. Hybrid HEV cars are low emission, fuel efficient, and this is one of the key considerations when buying hybrid cars.

Prospective buyers should attempt to achieve some level of understanding with terms related in buying hybrid cars.

There are zero-emission cars however, are purely electric vehicles, not hybrid cars. When buying hybrid cars, you should consider your work and home locations. Most Hybrid cars are made for urban or suburban travel. Short trips are most suitable for fuel savings, when hybrid cars are using electric engines at low RPMs.

The other consideration for consumer before finally buying hybrid cars is the cost. Hybrid cars, are priced higher than gas-powered counterparts due to the fact that production of hybrid cars are still in low numbers and has more mechanically complex to build.

What are the advantages of having a hybrid vehicle?

There are many reasons why a hybrid card is better than a traditional car:

  • You save money on gas with less fuel consumption
  • Smaller engines produce less air pollution and greenhouse gases
  • The battery acts as a back-up energy source for the electric motor
  • Hybrids are more lightweight than the average car, thus increasing their speed and performance
  • The electric motor produces less roadway noise
  • There is reduced wear on breaks because of the automatic break system
  • Less wear and tear on the engine, so fewer trips to the car shop
  • You can receive a tax incentive if you purchase an energy efficient car
  • Many insurance providers offer reduced rates because hybrid owners are seen as more responsible
  • Hybrids have low-rolling resistance tires that help reduce drag

Are there any drawbacks?

There are very few drawbacks to owning a hybrid vehicle because they are both energy efficient and also do not harm the environment. But even though they are environmentally friendly, there are a few disadvantages of owning one.

The two main drawbacks are that they are more expensive than traditional cars and not many mechanics know how to operate on them. That can make finding a replacement part very difficult.
